BCS Operational Approach for 2020-21

  • Berkeley County School buildings and offices will observe social distancing practices in reception areas and nonessential visitors and activities involving external groups or organizations will not be entering buildings in accordance with health and safety guidelines. As a consequence, the access to the school building will be very limited for staff, families, and the public.

    • 10/19/20: All visitors, staff and children 3 - 12 grade will be required to wear a face covering. Face-coverings for Pre-K - 2nd grade students are highly recommended if the student is medically able.
Young children may elect to wear a face covering. Berkeley County Schools will provide all students and staff with cloth face covering or individuals may elect to wear a face covering of their selection
    • School specific instruction will be shared with school community with regards to safe entry practices access is restricted.
    • Six-foot separation will be maintained whenever possible for both staff and students.
    • Efforts are in place to limit mixing groups of students and floors of restrooms, locker rooms and hallways will be marked to indicated proper distancing and direction of walking traffic.

Based on guidance from our partners Berkeley/Morgan County Board of HealthThe American Academy of Pediatrics, and the CDCas well as the evolving guidelines from the West Virginia Department of Education, there will need to be modifications to daily instructional schedules to maintain safety for students and staff.

BCS will reopen schools in Fall 2020, providing families two educational pathways of instruction 5 days per week:
