    We are actively recruiting substitute teachers to fill both day-to-day and long-term positions that may be temporarily vacant or unable to be filled by a certified teacher. 

    Whether you're just out of college, thinking of becoming a teacher, or interested in switching careers, substitute teaching provides a meaningful opportunity and helps fill a critical need in Berkeley County Schools. 

    Interested in a permanent career? Substitute teaching is one of many pathways into a long-term career in education. 

    Candidates with a valid teaching certification do not need to complete the training courses outlined below.

Step #1 Complete a Substitute Teacher Training Course

  • Option 1: WVDE E-Learning for Educators Class

  • Option 2: EPIC Substitute Teacher Training

  • Option 3: STEDI.org Substitute Teacher Training

  • Course completion certificate must be less than 1 year old for the WVDE to accept it.
