Graduation Requirements

  • Graduation requirements for each class are determined by WVDE Policy 2510 and Berkeley County Schools.  Please see list of graduation requirements below, as well as a electronic copy of the Program of Studies guide.  The Program of Studies is published each year by Berkeley County Schools to assist students and families in course selection, accessing additional academic programs, and meeting high school graduation requirements.


Class of 2023 Requirements

    • English Language Arts (4 credits)
      • English 9
      • English 10
      • English 11
      • English 12
    • Mathematics (4 credits)
      • Algebra I 
      • Geometry
      • Algebra II
      • Approved 4th Mathematics course
    • Science (3 credits)
      • Earth and Space Science
      • Biology
      • One Additional Lab Science
    • Social Studies (4 credits)
      • World History
      • United States Studies*
      • Contemporary Studies*
      • Civics
    • Career Program Classes (4 credits)
      • Career Program requirement met by completing:
        • 4 related CTE (Career Technical Education) classes OR
        • Professional Career Program (2 years of same foreign language, 4th science credit, and higher level Math)
    • Additonal Credits Required (5 credits)
      • 1 credit of Health
      • 1 credit of Physical Education
      • 1 credit of Arts
      • 2 credits of Electives
  • * Students completing US Comprehensive Studies (or US Comprehensive Studies Honors or AP US History) may take 1 approved Additional Social Studies elective instead of Contemporary US Studies.
