Jessica Salfia

Mrs. Salfia is a writer, activist, and teacher at Spring Mills High, and an adjunct professor at Shepherd University.  Mrs. Salfia has been teaching in Berkeley County for 12 years.  She graduated from Alderson-Broaddus University in 2003 and Sheperd University in 2012 where she was awarded the Distinguished Graduate Student in Scholarship Award.  During her time as a Berkeley County educator she has been nominated for teacher of the year several times, recieved an Arch Coal Teaching achievement Award in 2013, and was a finalist for the 2014-2015 Berkeley County Teacher of the Year.  

In addition to teaching, Mrs. Salfia is an accomplished writer of both fiction and poetry.  She was a finalist in the WV Fiction Competition in 2013, 2014, and 2015.  You can read her fiction and poetry in the Anthology of Appalachian Writers Volumes III, IV, V, VI, and VII.
