Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Brenda Waterworth
I have been teaching at Musselman for 23 years beginning at the "Old Musselman High School." When I began I taught Coordinated and Thematic Science (CATS) 9 and Earth & Environmental Science on a cart as I was a "traveling teacher" who taught a lab science in 4 out of 6 rooms that were not science rooms. The most interesting location for a class was teaching Earth and Environmental in a Home Ec. room on top of sewing machines. One of my most memorable events in the "old building" was having my Earth & Environmental class host a large recognition ceremony at the school for the over-100 in-state and out-of-state Fire Companies who responded to the Inwood Tire Pile Fire! I then moved to teaching Biology (Honors and General) and added Advance Placement (AP) Biology to the list
Three of my most memorable moments in the "newer Musselman High School" have been being named a member of the 2008 Toyota International Teacher Program that visited Costa Rica where 25 teachers from the United States toured the country studying the Costa Rican Watersheds and their educational system, and being a Finalist for Berkeley County Teacher of the Year. However, I consider being given the opportunity to hand my younger daugther her Musselman High School diploma the BEST MEMORY OF ALL!
This is a truly unique school and I really enjoy teaching here and I strive to challenge my students and to create active thinkers and life-long learners. I encourage all parents of my students to visit the waterworthbiology.weebly.com or the waterworthapbiology.weebly.com website(s) that I maintain for my biology students to ACTIVELY use.
