     We are using the Acer Chromebook 11 N7/C731/Model N16Q13

    Procedures for SMMS and Damaged Chromebooks:

    • The student notifies the classroom teacher
    • The teacher will hold the Chromebook and place a work order with the school technology contact
    • The school technology contact will then collect the Chromebook and place a work order with the County
    • Parents will receive a Technology Repair Fee letter from the school.  Please see the Technology Repair Fee.pdf.  The purpose of the letter is to keep you informed of any damages to the Chromebook.  
    • Please sign and return one letter and to the school and keep one letter for your records.  Any repair cost will be identified on the letter and should be paid or arrangements made when returning the signed letter.
    • Students will then receive their repaired Chromebook.

    The repair process may take a couple of weeks to complete.  Students will still be responsible for any and all assignments during this time.  Students can use the computers in the classroom or sign a loaner out of the library when they are available.  

    Procedures for students leaving SMMS and enrolling in another Berkeley County School

    • Please return your Chromebook and charger to your homeroom teacher or the school technology contact.
    • The Chromebook will then be unassigned from Spring Mills Middle, placed in a transportation box and sent via the courier to the newly enrolled school.
    • The newly enrolled school with assign and return the Chromebook to the student.  The new school may assign a temporary Chromebook to the student until the Chromebook arrives.

    This transfer process may take several days to complete.  Students will be responsible for any and all assignments during this time.  Each school may have their own process to follow. Please check with the newly enrolled school on the availability of computers.  

    Procedures for students leaving SMMS and enrolling out of Berkeley County Schools.

    • Please return your Chromebook and charger to your homeroom teacher or the school technology contact.
    • A fee of $25.00 will be charged for a missing Chromebook charger.

    Chromebook Cases

    Cases for the Chromebooks are not required, but recommended.  The school did purchase a bulk supply of Chromebook cases.  You may purchase a Chromebook case for $26.00.  A form can be found by opening the Chromebook Case.pdf.
