Berkeley County Schools will remain closed on Monday (2/26) due to the statewide work stoppage.
Message from the Superintendent:
Dear Berkeley County Schools' Employees,
Early Friday, Berkeley County Schools announced that our schools would open on Monday, February 26. This decision was made following conversation and with agreement of local representatives of employee associations. Friday, February 23, at 4:30 pm, state union leaders announced the work stoppage would continue through Monday, February 26. This announcement came as a surprise to many.
Today, a statewide conference call with all county Superintendents was held concerning the work stoppage for Monday. Across the state, this stoppage and the inability to address critical situations legislatively has created chaos.
Berkeley County Schools will remain closed on Monday due to the statewide work stoppage. The status of Tuesday is unknown at this time. It is my intent to keep you informed as this situation continues.
It is important that we appreciate and respect the decisions of each individual as we move forward. We can never forget the real people we serve - the students in our classrooms. At the end of the day, we are accountable for their learning.
I appreciate the great work that you do in our classroom and look forward to coming together in the days ahead.
