Hi! My name is Julie Stark, and I am the full-time counselor at Mill Creek Intermediate. I grew up in Shepherdstown, WV and went to college at Towson University and West Virginia University. Then, I attended graduate school at Loyola University and graduated with a master's degree in clinical psychology. I worked in Maryland at a maximum security prison for about 12 years as a psychology associate, conducting psychological testing, as well as individual and group counseling, with adolescents and adults. In 2009, my husband and I decided to move to West Virginia to be closer to family, as we raised our two daughters. My husband changed careers soon after moving and entered the Berkeley County School system. I eventually went back to school to obtain my master's degree in school counseling, so I could also be in the Berkeley County School system, because I love working with the students. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Even though this school year will look different than previous school years, I look forward to a great year working with staff, students, families and the community, in whatever capacity I can be of service to you and your family. There will undoubtedly be challenges that we have not faced before. I hope everyone can try to keep a positive attitude and work towards what is best for each individual student and family, as everyone's needs/desires may be different. Please feel free to contact me to address any questions or concerns you may have.

Hello! My name is Karson Rizer. I am very excited to be a part of Mill Creek Intermediate as the part time counselor and cannot wait to meet each and every one of you! I graduated from George Mason University in 2013 with a B.A. in Psychology. I then went on to Liberty University where I completed my M.Ed. in School Counseling. I started as a School Counselor in Berkeley County in 2019. I have lived in Berkeley County for about 5 years and am originally from a small town in Virginia. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I worked with parents in their homes and assisted them with activities and suggestions to help with their child's development. I absolutely love working with children of all ages on their personal, social, and academic goals. I look forward to working with all the students, teachers, and staff to achieve their goals.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about our counseling program!
