Attendance Policy

Attendance Policy (Effective June 2017)
The Law States:

The parent/guardian of any student who has accumulated five (5) or more absences will be mailed a letter notifying them of absences. If a student accrues five (5) or more unexcused absences, then Written We wanted to send out a reminder regarding attendance for our CLICK students (this was previously sent out with our back to school information). This is a different procedure from the spring, so it is very important that all families understand how attendance will work during this new school year.

Attendance is taken for all CLICK students on a daily basis based on the following criteria:

1. Student attendance during live sessions on Teams.

2. Time spent logged-in to Schoology (under the student's account) to view recorded videos of missed live sessions (this must occur before 11:59 PM each day).

***NOTE: A child must attend ALL live sessions, or view all of the recorded videos in Schoology, to be counted as present for the day. Only attending some of the sessions, or only viewing some of the recorded lessons will result in a partial-day absence. Our teachers have the ability to see how much time is being spent logged-in to Schoology, and attendance will be taken based on those analytics.

It is very important that all recorded sessions are viewed through the STUDENT'S Schoology account. Parent accounts do not show the same analytics, which could potentially result in your child being marked absent.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Sorg, School Counselor, at adsorg@k12.wv.us, or reach out to administration at (304) 229.1970.

Your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated! will be served to the parent/guardian and a meeting scheduled with a school representative and a County Attendance Worker.

If a student accumulates ten (10) or more unexcused absences, then State Law states that legal action can be taken against the parent or guardian. It is important for parents, guardians and custodians to remember that written notes are needed to excuse an absence for reasons listed in the student handbook under excused absences. This note must be received by the school within 48 hours of the absence.

For this year, we request that all doctor's notes be faxed directly to the office at 304-229-1973, Attn: Debbie Cherry.  Parent notes can be sent to your child's homeroom teacher through Schoology, Dojo, or email or emailed directly to Debby Cherry at dcherry@k12.wv.us.  Please include your child's full name, date of absence, reason for absence, and homeroom teacher.
