SMMS Updates on for the school closure

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As reported Friday, Governor Justice has ordered the closing of all West Virginia public schools until further notice due to concerns about the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. I know that this situation will be challenging for members of our community, but I want you to know that our Spring Mills Middle staff has been working hard to ensure that our students can continue with their academic progress during this absence from our classrooms.
Our teachers are in the process of posting instructional materials online for our students on Schoology. They will have all required materials uploaded for their students by the end of the day tomorrow. However, many assignments are already posted and your child can begin working on them. For those students who do not have online access, parents will be able to pick up hard copies of their assignments for their students beginning Wednesday morning.  This week, SMMS will be open from 8am-2pm for students to collect their Chromebooks and their belongings from their lockers.
Please allow staff time continue preparing high quality instructional materials, and keep looking for updates from SMMS and Berkeley County Schools for further guidance. I thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we navigate through this challenging situation together. Stay safe, and enjoy this time with your families.

Sincerely,
Tony Ponton
Principal,
Spring Mills Middle School
