Graduation FAQ for Senior Families (Parking, Shuttles, etc)

Graduates will be given maps and information on May 23rd at Graduation rehearsal.

Graduation is an important event for our school and our graduates, so we ask that graduation attendees refrain from shouting, airhorns, etc during the graduation ceremony so as not to interfere with another family being able to hear their graduate's name.  We also remind you that the ceremony may be excessively long for small children.

In the interest of safety, we ask that our guests at graduation please refrain from coming onto the football field during the ceremony. There are professional videographers as well as professional, media, and yearbook photographers on the field. Please remain in the stands until the conclusion of the ceremony following the completion of the recessional.

Here are some frequently asked questions about the graduation ceremony:

When is graduation?

May 23 at 7pm on the football field

Where can I park?

Parking at the middle school is limited and by special permit only.  General parking is at the high school. Shuttles will run between the high school and the field. Shuttle stops are located at the bottom of the ramp from the student parking lot at the South end of the building and by the library on the North end of the building.

When does the shuttle run?

The shuttles will begin running at 5pm. They will run continuously until 6:40pm. Shuttles will begin again after the conclusion of the ceremony. Shuttle stops are located at the bottom of the ramp from the student parking lot at the South end of the building and by the library on the North end of the building.

What should I expect from traffic?

Traffic will be heavy on graduation night, so allow extra time for parking and arrival. Following the ceremony no traffic will be turning left to head North on Rt11 toward Rt51 and I81. All traffic leaving the football field will be turning to Rt11 South.

When should I arrive?

The ceremony begins at 7pm. You should plan to arrive well in advance of that to make sure that you can find a seat.

What if I have a handicapped family member?

Seniors were to notify the school earlier in the year if a handicapped family member would be attending graduation.  Seniors will recieve a special event only handicapped parking permit and ticket for handicapped family members.  Handicapped seating is available along the track. Seating is limited though, so this area is reserved for the handicapped family member and one guest.  If your graduate did not previously notify the school regarding a family member that needs special accomodations, please let us know as soon as possible.

Is there interpretation for the hearing impaired?

Yes, we will have ASL interpreters at the ceremony. Please let us know as soon as possible if you have one or more family members who are hearing impaired so that we can reserve you a seat near the ASL interpreter(s).

Can I watch online?

Yes, if you would prefer to watch graduation from the comfort of your home it will be live streamed. Watch the school website on graduation day for information about how to watch this event online.

What if it rains?

If there is a substantial chance of rain on Thursday, we may decide to move the ceremony to Friday. This would be announced in advance. In the event of serious or repeated inclement weather the ceremony will be moved to the school gymnasium. Unfortunately we cannot contain everyone in the gymnasium, so if the ceremony is moved indoors each graduate will be recieving three tickets for family & friends. If this should happen we greatly encourage you to watch the livestream from another location and celebrate with your graduate.
