April 24, 2019: Selection of Candidates for Interviews

The Berkeley County Board of Education announces the selection of five initial candidates to be interviewed for the district’s superintendent position. The board anticipates additional interviews as deliberations continue. Candidates selected for interviews on Saturday, April 27th and future dates, represent West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Jersey.

The Berkeley County Board of Education retained the services of the West Virginia School Board Association to assist in conducting their superintendent of schools search. The association collected and reviewed applications from 24 candidates. Ten candidates were from West Virginia school districts and fourteen candidates represent eight other states: Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.

Per state statute, the board desires to have an incoming superintendent selected and under contract by June 1, 2019, effective July 1, 2019.
