This afternoon, MHS was briefly placed in a lockdown after a staff alert badge was accidentally activated. Following protocol, staff immediately implemented lockdown procedures.
There was no threat to the safety of students or staff. Law enforcement was not dispatched, and normal school operations resumed shortly afterward.
We are reviewing our systems and practices to help prevent accidental activations in the future. We apologize for any concern this may have caused and appreciate your understanding as we continue working to strengthen our safety practices.

We want to make you aware that law enforcement was present at our school today to address a situation involving three students who were taken into custody.
At no time was there a threat to the safety of students or staff. We appreciate the work of our School Resource Officer and Martinsburg Police Department in helping maintain a safe school environment for everyone.
We encourage families to speak with their students about making positive, responsible choices and understanding that inappropriate actions and violations of school policies or the law can result in serious consequences.
