MARTINSBURG — Spring Mills Middle School recently received a gift of warm winter coats from the Berkeley County Professional Fire Fighters, Local 5045.

These local firefighters raised $3000 to purchase coats for students in need by asking local stores to support their efforts by donating one coat for each coat purchased. Spring Mills Middle School staff members, Melanie Canby and Maggie James, coordinated efforts with John Graham of the Berkeley County Professional Fire Fighters, Local 5045, to secure a generous number of coats for students who many have a need this winter.

Dr. Amy Haderer, Principal of Spring Mills Middle School, praised the community minded act of kindness displayed by the these community firefighters.

“The power and strength of positive relationships is evident through this generous donation to assist our school community. Our sincere appreciation, expressed on behalf of all students who may need a coat this winter, is extended to those who contributed to the success of this coat initiative.”
