Dear families, 

We want to acknowledge the flyer that came home with your student yesterday regarding the opportunity to have spring pictures taken by Lifetouch. Spring photographs have traditionally been a courtesy to families, with a portion of the funds raised benefiting the school.

We are aware of concerns that some families have expressed regarding Lifetouch and want to assure you that participation in this opportunity is completely voluntary. Lifetouch was contracted in May of 2025 to provide fall photographs (for yearbook purposes), spring photographs, and yearbook sales. Student safety and privacy are our top priorities, and we appreciate the attention and care families bring to these important topics. 

Additionally, we are exploring other local options for spring photographs and will share that information if it becomes available. Please note that contracts for yearbook photography and other school photos are managed at the individual school level, rather than through the district office. The district does not hold an overarching contract with Lifetouch or any other photography vendor.

We value parent input and will take your concerns into consideration as we review and select future photography services.

Berkeley County Schools will administer spring testing for students in Grades 3–8 (and eligible Grade 11 students) between April 13 and May 22. In addition, all 11th Grade students will participate in SAT School Day on April 15, providing an important opportunity to demonstrate college and career readiness. Berkeley County Schools (PreK–12) will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, due to cold temperatures and the potential for freezing rain and icy road conditions. We will continue to monitor road conditions throughout the evening and into the morning to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Following an 8:00 p.m. briefing from the National Weather Service, there is potential for flash freezing overnight and snow accumulation.
