Our school counselors focus on academic, career, and personal development to ensure that every student benefits from a program that is comprehensive in scope, preventative in design, and developmental in nature. Mission Statement

The school counseling program at North Middle is designed to provide a safe, supportive atmosphere where students can attain personal/social, academic and career success through a collaborative partnership with other educators, families, and the community.

We work hand in hand to nurture the physical, emotional, and intellectual dimensions that enhance life-long learning and foster a positive self-esteem that leads to becoming productive members of our community. 

Vision Statement

North Middle students will acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to maximize their full potential and successfully reach their full potential while managing their lives as healthy, responsible, competent, and productive citizens.

The School Counseling program focuses on the West Virginia Student Success Standards. Students will learn how to increase interpersonal and social skills, refine learning and work.

Lauren Poe, Last Names A-L

This will be my fourth year working as a School Counselor at NMS! This year I will be working with ALL students with last names starting with A-L. I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Concord University where I also played collegiate softball for four years! I then received my Master of Arts in School Counseling from Marshall University in 2020. Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband and two kids (and two cats!), my family and friends. If you ever have any questions, feel free to stop by my office located right across from the nurse. I am so excited for another year with the wonderful NMS staff!

Brianna Sigler, Last Names M-Z

Welcome to North Middle School! My name is Brianna Sigler, and I am proud to be in my third year as a school counselor here at NMS. I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I work with all students in grades 6th-8th with last names M-Z.

I received my Bachelors' degree in Psychology through the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Following the earning of my Master’s degree in Counseling from Frostburg State University, where I developed a strong foundation in student development, mental health support, and collaborative problem-solving. At NMS, I strive to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and staff so that every child feels seen, valued, and capable of success.

Outside of school, I love spending time with my son and exploring the outdoors. Whether we’re hiking, discovering new parks, or simply enjoying fresh air, nature is a big part of our lives.

Jessica Wolfgang, Medical Social Worker

Hello! My name is Jessica Wolfgang, and I am the part time medical social worker here at North Middle School. I have been a social worker for 20 years, working in Medical social worker previously. I hold my bachelor's in social work from Shepherd University. I live in Greencastle, PA, with my husband, my son, two daughters, and two dogs. I enjoy spending quality time with my family when I am not working. I am extremely excited about working with our NMS students. I will be available at North every Wednesday, Thursday, and every other Friday.

Nichel Griffin, Communities in School (CIS) Coordinator

Hello! This is my second year here at North Middle School as the Communities In Schools (CIS) Site Coordinator. I previously worked with the aging population for 15 years. I have my bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. I live in Hedgesville, WV with my husband, my labradoodle puppy named Oliver, one daughter and two sons.  In my spare time I enjoy watching crime television, spending time with my family.
