We want to make you aware of a situation that occurred at a girls' basketball game at another school yesterday evening. A student responsibly reported to an adult that a Spring Mills High School student may have been in possession of a weapon. School staff immediately contacted law enforcement, and State Police responded promptly to investigate.
The investigation found that a weapon was located in the student’s vehicle. The weapon was recovered, and there is no ongoing threat to students, staff, or spectators. The investigation will continue in coordination with law enforcement, and appropriate disciplinary action is being taken in accordance with school policies.
We are very appreciative of the students for demonstrating responsibility and following the important message of “see something, say something.” Their quick action played a key role in ensuring the safety of everyone present.
Student safety remains our highest priority. Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Principal
This afternoon, SMHS was briefly placed in a lockdown after a staff badge was accidentally activated through our new remote alert system. While the system is not yet fully implemented, our staff immediately followed our lockdown protocol. As a result, there will be a slight delay in bus dismissal.
Please be assured that there was no threat to student or staff safety. Law enforcement was not dispatched, and normal school operations resumed shortly afterward.
We apologize for any concern this may have caused and appreciate your understanding as we continue to strengthen our safety practices.
