This morning, SMHS was briefly placed in a lockdown after a staff alert badge was accidentally activated. Following protocol, staff immediately implemented lockdown procedures.
There was no threat to the safety of students or staff. Law enforcement was not dispatched, and the code was lifted within a minute.

Class of 2026 graduates or students who are no longer enrolled at SMHS can pick up their yearbook in the front office between 8:00am and 1:30pm. If someone other than the graduate or their parent is picking up the book, we need a handwritten note stating that the person picking up the book has permission to pick it up. A text message is not sufficient.
Students who are currently enrolled at SMHS can pick up their book in the library during their lunch shift. Students should not be leaving class to pick up yearbooks. Pick up will run from 9/2 until 9/4. If students do not pick up their yearbook during this time they will receive it in homeroom on 9/14.
If you paid for your yearbook to be shipped to your house it should be arriving soon if it has not already. If you have questions about ship to home orders, please contact Jostens directly.

Storm Update: Martinsburg High School Closed Tomorrow
We hope all of our families are safe following today’s storm and severe rainfall.
Our teams have checked all schools and worked to address any issues caused by the weather. Custodians are working this evening to clean up and prepare our schools to open tomorrow.
Unfortunately, Martinsburg High School has experienced significant water intrusion and will need additional time to clean and dry the affected areas. As a result, MaHS will be closed for students tomorrow, Friday, August 28. MaHS staff should report at 8:00 a.m.
Students who attend classes at JRTI, Shepherd University, or BRCTC may attend those classes at their own discretion. There will be no JROTC tomorrow.
Information regarding extracurricular and after-school activities will be communicated directly to students and families by Martinsburg High School.
